In the Garden: Kingwood Center opens its gates for new season

The Kingwood Center’s grounds and greenhouse opened Friday for a new gardening season. Hours for visiting the grounds or shopping at the greenhouse are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. There is no admission fee during March.

The new greenhouse manager is Doug Schuster. He reports a variety of plants are for sale, including houseplants, potted flowering plants and a variety of other plants with color appeal or for Easter. Enter the grounds at the Trimble Road entrance, which leads to a large parking lot.

Schuster is interested in your future plant purchases. Tell him the types of bedding plants you may want in April and May. He plans to grow more bedding plants this year.

Kingwood Center is now in its 60th year.
